James Plousis, Chairman, New Jersey Casino Control Commission

Plousis reflects on Atlantic City’s evolution and what lies ahead.

With almost seven years as chairman of the New Jersey Casino Control Commission, James Plousis has seen it all from the legalization of sports betting across the United States, starting in New Jersey, to the pandemic, when he helped to manage that difficult time for the Atlantic City casinos.

Plousis is now supporting the casinos’ celebration of the 50th anniversary of the legalization of gaming in Atlantic City. He’s also focused on preparing for the impact of three new casinos in New York City, but says the four-year period between the opening of Resorts World NYC and the other two will play in Atlantic City’s favor. He spoke with GGB Editor at Large Roger Gros from the commission chambers in July.
