Seminole Hard Rock Tampa Expands Smoke-Free Gaming
It will cover 40% of the slot inventory as well as parts of the casino and resort
- Over 40% of slots at Seminole Hard Rock Tampa will be smoke-free by 2026
- The expansion includes more smoke-free zones and upgraded casino areas
- Property aims to meet guest preferences while maintaining gaming atmosphere
Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tampa is widening its smoke-free footprint to cover more than 40% of its slot inventory. This move will underscores how closely the property is tracking guest preferences while balancing Florida’s still-significant smoking-friendly casino culture.
The expansion is scheduled to open before the end of 2026 and will more than double the number of smoke-free slot machines and table games, according to Indian Gaming.
It will also add smoke-free zones across parts of the casino and resort, while keeping designated smoking areas in place.
Guest Demand Shapes the Strategy
“Many of our guests asked for additional smoke-free options, and we listened,” Travis Lunn, president of Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tampa, said in a statement.
He added that the goal is to increase comfort and choice without compromising the gaming atmosphere. The transition will include sections of the casino floor, the hotel lobby and the L Bar, with the property planning deep cleaning and replacement of flooring, seating, table felt and ceiling materials.
Renovation Timeline Builds on Recent Upgrades
According to the property, construction on a temporary gaming area inside the Hard Rock Event Center is expected to begin in August 2026, before broader casino renovations start in October. The event center will temporarily serve as casino space during the work.
The smoke-free push follows a $65 million enhancement program completed in 2025, which added nearly 350 slot machines, refreshed 240 hotel rooms and reopened Fresh Harvest Buffet.
