Affinity Gaming said it will shut the last casino operations at its Nevada border properties on July 4, 2026.

Nevada Primm casinos closure
  • Primm Valley Resort, Buffalo Bill’s, and Whiskey Pete’s to shut by July 2026
  • Declining traffic and rising regional competition drive closures
  • Future of the iconic borderland gaming hub remains uncertain

This ends a run that once made the roadside cluster a familiar stop for Southern California drivers heading to Las Vegas.

The announcement was made to employees on May 6 2026, according to Santa Monica Observer

A Borderland Casino Model Loses Its Edge

The move covers Primm Valley Resort & Casino, Buffalo Bill’s Resort & Casino and Whiskey Pete’s Hotel & Casino, along with related facilities.

The company had already been thinning operations for months as traffic weakened and California tribal casinos pulled more visitors closer to home. The tribal owned OG recently reopened following a restoration project

Primm, once marketed as an easy first stop for LA gamblers, has struggled to keep pace with newer travel habits and a more crowded regional gaming map.

Closures Follow a Long Retreat

Buffalo Bill’s stopped normal casino and hotel operations in 2025, though its arena was left available for concerts and special events.

Whiskey Pete’s had already been taken offline in 2024 under a Clark County waiver that allowed a prolonged closure while preserving the license. The company previously said the changes were meant to “deliver the best possible experience for today’s guest expectations.” This is in addition to an August 2025 announcement on renovations for the Primm Valley Resort which included 600 renovated rooms and suites, a buffalo-shaped pool and 25,000 square feet of convention and event space.
