Maryland Casinos Experience Decline in Start of Fiscal 2027
The July month figures were down 4.7% from a year previous
Maryland’s casinos opened fiscal 2027 with weaker July results, with statewide gaming revenue falling to $157.9 million, according to figures released by Maryland Lottery and Gaming.
That was down 4.7% from July 2025, suggesting the state’s land-based market remains under pressure as the new fiscal year begins.
The state said casino gaming produced $68.2 million for public uses, this was a decrease of 3.5% from July 2025. Around $49.9 million contributions were provided for education.
MGM Takes the Biggest Hit
MGM National Harbor posted the sharpest slide, with gaming revenue of $60.2 million, down 12.2% from a year earlier.
Live! Casino & Hotel was nearly flat at $59.2 million, leaving the two largest properties close behind each other for the month.
Smaller venues were mixed: Horseshoe Baltimore rose 4.5%, Ocean Downs gained 2.3% and Hollywood Perryville increased 2.8%, while Rocky Gap slipped 0.8%.
FY2027 Starts After a Soft Finish
The July report also follows a fiscal 2026 that ended with about $1.93 billion in casino revenue, down 1.7% from the prior year.
July’s numbers were down from March, where the six commercial casinos generated $168.1 million from slots and table games, down 2.3% from a year earlier.
