Honolulu Police Seize Gaming Machines and Cash at Illegal Gambling Room
Similar raids happened in April and December
Honolulu police seized 15 gaming machines and more than $2,700 in cash after serving a search warrant on Thursday at an illegal gambling room on Old Fort Weaver Road in Ewa Beach.
The department said its Narcotics/Vice Division Gambling Detail led the operation at about 5 p.m., with support from several specialist units.
A 44-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of promoting gambling in the second degree and possession of a gambling device.

HPD said all of the machines and cash were booked as evidence.
Maj. Jerome Pacarro said the enforcement work does more than remove equipment from the street. “Each shutdown not only disrupts an illegal operation but also provides valuable information that can help identify and investigate those responsible for organizing and profiting from these activities,” he said.
The Ewa Beach case follows a run of recent gambling raids across Oahu.
In December, police said they seized 18 machines and more than $5,000 in cash from a nearby Ewa Beach location.
In April, officers recovered 16 machines and more than $6,000 in ʻAiea, while June operations in Mililani, Kakaako and Waipahu also turned up machines and cash.
Raids have been making headlines recently with the Japanese police recently imposing prison terms on four people following a remote pachinko gambling operation.
