Detroit gaming revenue
  • Detroit’s three casinos generated $118.9 million in April, the best since 2019
  • Year-to-date revenue up slightly from 2025, indicating stabilisation
  • Industry stakeholders cautious on sustaining the rebound into 2026

The casinos reported aggregate revenue of $125.2 million in April 2019.

Table games and slots accounted for $118.0 million, while retail sports wagering added $837,397.

MGM Grand Detroit led with a 49% market share and $58.4 million in gaming revenue, which the board said was the property’s best month since March 2019.

The April total was up 7.8% from a year earlier and 5.8% from March. That rebound also pushed the market into positive territory for 2026 year to date, with combined revenue at $432.6 million through four months, up 1.4% from the same stretch in 2025.

MGM Grand Detroit and MotorCity Casino both improved their year-to-date pace, while Hollywood Casino at Greektown narrowed its deficit.

A Test for the Full Year

Detroit’s three casinos started the year strong with a stronger than expected January, generating $103.1 million in gaming revenue. Table game and slot revenue edged up 0.8% from January 2025, while retail sports wagering fell sharply.

The city’s casinos still finished 2025 slightly below the prior year, while Michigan’s online casino business continues to expand. Detroit’s three casinos generated $108.2 million in revenue in November 2025.

April’s numbers, however, suggest the brick-and-mortar market is stabilizing, and MGM’s near-prepandemic pace is a notable sign for a sector still chasing 2019 levels.
