AGCO Gives Thumbs Up to Live-Streamed Charitable Bingo
The change is hoping to allow space for a continued modernization in the bingo sector
- Ontario regulators permit licensed charities to stream bingo games online and on cable TV
- Move aims to modernize charitable bingo while maintaining safeguards
- Could expand reach and revenue for community organizations relying on gaming proceeds
Ontario’s charitable bingo sector is getting a digital upgrade as regulators allow licensed organizations to add live-streamed games online and continue broadcasting on cable television.
Broader Modernization Push
The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario said on Thursday that the change reflects stakeholder input and is meant to create “continued modernization” while preserving the structure of licensed charitable bingo.
The agency said the update should “reduce burden” and provide “greater flexibility” for groups that rely on gaming revenue to support local causes.
The AGCO oversees charitable gaming under the Gaming Control Act, 1992. As well as the modernisation of bingo, thegroup also recently clamped down on illegal slots in Ontario; 50 terminals were confiscated back in September
