Comanche Nation to Close War Pony Casino in Oklahoma

Comanche Nation Entertainment has announced that its War Pony Casino in Cotton County, Oklahoma will close in September.

War Pony Casino will shut its doors until further notice from September 24, according to a statement issued to KSWO. The tribe did not state why the property would be closing.

The venue opened for business in 2022, offering players access to a range of gaming machines. These included slot games, digital craps and electronic roulette.

Customers can also access vehicle refueling facilities at the site. It is not clear whether these will remain open once the casino property closes.

Comanche Nation Committed to Red River Expansion

While War Pony Casino will soon close, the tribe has announced expansion plans for a nearby venue.

Located just a few miles away, Red River Hotel and Casino will undergo a series of changes. These include approximately 150 additional slot machines, 15 table games and new bar and food service areas.

This will be in addition to non-gaming attractions, including an arcade and virtual golf suites.

“This capital improvement marks a strategic milestone for Comanche Nation,” CEO Steven Doyle said. “It gives us room to grow in a smart and sustainable way, creating more value for our guests, our team members and most importantly, Comanche Nation.”
