Travellers International Takes Over $1.3 Billion Manila Bay Casino Project
Travellers International Hotel is to take over the development of the $1.3 billion Westside City casino resort in Manila, capital of the Philippines, from partner Suntrust Resort amid project delays.
As revealed by Forbes, Travellers has reached a “strategic working agreement” with Suntrust over the project. Travellers is controlled by Alliance Global, owned by billionaire Andrew Tan.
The proposal, which is yet to be finalized, will see Travellers accelerate completion of work on the casino. Development work is being carried out by Megaworld, Tan’s real estate arm.
Travellers will have a majority interest in Entertainment City Resorts, owner and lessor of the Westside City property. Suntrust will hold a 20% indirect stake.
Manila Bay Casino Opening Pushed Back to Q3 2026
Westside City had been due to open in December 2025, but construction delays have pushed it back until the third quarter of 2026.
Once open, Westside City will become the fourth casino in Manila’s Entertainment City. This 800-hectare district is also home to the Solaire, City of Dreams Manila and Okada Manila.
The new venue will house a casino with 281 gaming tables and over 1,000 slot machines. In addition, it will feature a 475-suite hotel, shopping mall and several theaters.
Fortune Noble, an investment vehicle controlled by LET Group, formerly Suncity Group, has a 51% holding in Suntrust. Megaworld, meanwhile, has a 34% stake in the business.
