This latest entry in L&W’s long-running game family based on the 1939 MGM classic The Wizard of Oz is presented on the supplier’s two immersive large-format cabinets, the Cosmic and the Mural, both perfect for the spectacular visuals and animation of the slot game.

As the name hints, this newest Wizard of Oz game is themed around the Wicked Witch of the West. It is a darker-themed version than previous games in the franchise, with the castle of the Wicked Witch of the West providing a spooky screen backdrop.

Flying orbs on the screen land as cash-on-reels symbols. During the hold-and-spin bonus, orbs progress toward unlocking mini-bonuses related to the film’s four main protagonists.

The base game is a five-by-five array (five reels, five rows of symbols), with 25 paylines. In the primary game, cash-on-reels symbols travel to the top-screen castle for a metamorphic trigger to the main hold-and-spin bonus feature. Randomly, the witch’s crystal ball will send up to four wild reels to the screen.

The main hold-and-spin bonus includes enhancements linked to each of the four characters. When active, a cash-on-reels symbol with Dorothy’s image collects the values of all cash symbols on the screen and locks them in place as a single symbol. Tin Man cash-on-reels symbols add 350 credits to any symbol bearing a heart. The Cowardly Lion doubles all cash prizes within a zone, and the Scarecrow awards all cash prizes on the screen as an instant award.

At the start of the feature, two of the enhancements are active and the other two can be unlocked by landing a threshold of cash symbols bearing the image of the character. The hold-and-spin feature proceeds in the normal manner with three-spin cycles resetting with each cash or lower-level jackpot symbol. Filling the screen returns the top progressive, a multi-site prize resetting at $200,000.
