SOSHNY Design Two Kings Casino • Kings Mountain, North Carolina
The Catawba Nation is growing in size and influence in Kings Mountain, North Carolina, home of the Two Kings Casino.
A billion-dollar expansion, which broke ground almost two years ago, will add a 385-room hotel, multiple dining options, and a gaming floor that spans nearly seven acres. The casino, slated to open in spring 2027, will offer 4,300 slot machines, more than 100 table games, a high-limit area and a player lounge.
Phase 1 of the project, now open to the public, features 1,350 slot machines, 36 electronic table games, 22 traditional table games, sports betting kiosks, and a restaurant and bar with seating for more than 80 people.
Trent Troxel, vice president of the Catawba Nation Gaming Authority, called the project “a catapult to get us through the next seven generations.”
Catawba Nation Chief Brian Harris agreed, saying, “This casino resort will be an economic game-changer for Catawba citizens… It is a testament to our resilience, our commitment to self-sufficiency and our determination to build a better future.”
The development is now rising off Interstate 85, 35 miles from Charlotte and about two hours from the South Carolina border. SOSHNY Design is the architect, with Yates-Metcon as the construction general contractor and Delaware North as the gaming management, development and hospitality consultant.
