Reno Proposes Stadium Redevelopment with 71,210-square-foot Casino

Reno’s latest downtown-adjacent redevelopment pitch would fuse a soccer venue, casino, hotel and retail district into a single project on nearly 28 acres at Kietzke Lane and Peckham Lane.

Reno, Nevada
  • A new $350 million project in Reno aims to combine a soccer stadium, casino, hotel, and retail district.
  • The plan includes a 6,000-seat stadium and aims for a 2027 debut, with ongoing approvals needed.
  • Expected to create up to 1,100 jobs and transform downtown Reno’s entertainment landscape.

The plan is centered on The Boulevard Reno, a mixed-use concept tied to Reno Pro Soccer’s incoming United Soccer League Championship franchise. The club says it is targeting a 2027 debut and has already started taking season-ticket deposits.

Stadium at the Core

The proposal calls for a 6,000-seat stadium, a 301-room hotel, a 71,210-square-foot casino and convention component, and a 55,000-square-foot retail village built around a public plaza.

Reno Pro Soccer’s website says the stadium is expected to cost about $80 million and anchor a broader sports and entertainment district. The company also says groundbreaking is planned for early 2026. In a filing quoted by World Casino Directory, Douglas R. Thornley of Holland & Hart said, “The Boulevard Reno is a thoughtful, community-oriented redevelopment.”

City Approvals Still Ahead

Before any construction starts, the project needs rezoning, a conditional use permit and approval for an expanded gaming overlay district.

Reno Pro Soccer CEO Wendy Damonte told local media the next step is a hearing before the Washoe County Planning Commission in June.

Project documents cited by Reno Gazette Journal put the total investment at $350 million and estimate 850 to 950 jobs, while other reporting says the plan could generate more than 1,100 positions.

The site is also slated for substantial landscaping and parking, underscoring the scale of the buildout. This comes not long after the Grand Sierra Resort expansion that would center around a 10,000-seat arena.
