Planning Board Approves Hampton Beach Casino Revamp
The Hampton Planning Board has approved a proposed redevelopment of the Hampton Beach Casino, a multi-use venue located on the seafront of the New Hampshire town.
Owners proposed replacing the two-story structure with condos, a hotel, charitable gaming venue, restaurants and ballroom. It is hoped demonstration work could begin as soon as September next year.
The project cleared a major hurdle with approval from the Hampton Planning Board. This was granted at a meeting earlier in November and more recently confirmed by the board.
Should the revamp commence as planned, developers hope to open the new-look venue within three years post-demolition. This would place a completion date around mid-2029.
New Look for Historic Hampton Casino Venue
Hampton Beach Casino is among the most iconic venues in the New Hampshire beach town.
The wood-framed building first opened its doors as a social venue place for dancing, music. and gambling in 1899. Later in its life, it expanded to house 57-room hotel, known as the Ocean House.
At present, it features a casino ballroom, charitable gaming facility, arcade and family fun center, shops, restaurants and miniature golf. Gambling-specific amenities include several table games, a poker area and historical horse racing machines.
Lupoli Cos. Is leading the revamp project as developer. It has the support of architectural company PCA, engineering business TEC, and Boston-based landscape architect Halvorson.
