MGM Resorts and BetMGM Boosts Responsible Gaming Funding

GameSense will also be visible in more sports venue including NFL and MLB sites

MGM Resorts and BetMGM have committed $320,000 to responsible gambling initiatives, with the money going towards research, helplines and community partners as the industry marks Responsible Gaming Education Month.

The companies said the funding will support the International Center for Responsible Gaming, state problem gambling councils and the Evive Foundation, which offers digital tools and peer support.

Research, Help Lines and Venue Messaging

In a statement, the companies said GameSense will also be more visible in sports venues, including select NFL and MLB sites and, in Las Vegas, NHL and WNBA arenas.

MGM described GameSense as a programme built around “positive, transparent, and proactive engagements” with customers, while the latest campaign also highlights support for the 1-800-GAMBLER helpline.

The initiative follows a wider industry push to pair advertising with clearer responsible gaming messaging, especially in markets where live sports betting is now embedded in the fan experience.

Chief Compliance Officer at BetMGM, Rhea Loney emphasised that “player protection is a priority every day at BetMGM, and RGEM gives us an opportunity to highlight those efforts”.

“Through GameSense messaging in professional sports venues, employee education, and investments in research and support services, we are helping players access the tools and resources they need to make informed decisions.”

A Broader Push Across the Business

According to BetMGM, more than 3,000 employees have now been certified as GameSense advisers, reflecting a wider internal training effort across 45 departments.

“Responsible gaming has the greatest impact when the industry works together like we have with Play Smart from the Start,” said Rob Lockwood, SVP Strategic Communications, American Gaming Association.

“Our collaboration with MGM Resorts and BetMGM helps keeps these important messages visible to players while supporting research and programs that can make a difference.”

Earlier this year, MGM Resorts International reported that it can now power up to 100% of its daytime electricity needs on the Las Vegas Strip with solar energy.
