Macau Gaming Market Hits Slight Decline Despite New Developments
Acres Entertainment recently received the green light to operate as gaming machine manufacturer in Macau
Macau’s gaming revenue declined in September, despite heightened numbers in the summer.
Gross gaming revenue fell 1.2% year on year to MOP18.1 billion, according to AGB, missing expectations for modest growth and marking the weakest monthly print of 2026.
The figure also dropped sharply from August, when demand had been stronger.
Soft Patch in Macau
Analysts have linked the slowdown to cooler spending after World Cup-related momentum faded, alongside tighter regulatory oversight in the market.
Even so, the first nine months of 2026 were still up 3.2% from a year earlier, suggesting the underlying recovery has not broken down.
A Budding Market
Macau remains a budding landscape. In August, Melco Resorts & Entertainment began welcoming guests to REM Hotel at City of Dreams Macau, with chairman and chief executive Lawrence Ho saying the formal launch will follow October’s Golden Week.
Additionally, Acres Manufacturing Company secured approval from Macau’s Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau to operate as a gaming machine manufacturer in the city, giving the Las Vegas supplier a place on the regulated list through March 31, 2027.
