Spread across some 150,000 square feet, the Hard Rock Ottawa project carried a $350 million cost.

Hard Rock International has announced the opening of its new Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Ottawa, marking the operator’s first fully integrated resort in Canada.

The venue officially opened on July 3, with a series of events taking place over the following days. Highlights included a performance by the Canadian Tenors and a headline concert by singer Avril Lavigne.

Various executives, dignitaries and community leaders were in attendance for the opening ceremony, during which Hard Rock presented a $100,000 donation to Ottawa Food Bank.

“Bringing Hard Rock to Canada’s capital is an iconic milestone for our brand,” Hard Rock International CEO Jim Allen said. “We’re proud to expand our global footprint and create a destination where locals and visitors can experience world-class gaming, hospitality, and entertainment all in one place.”

Stan Cho, the minister of tourism, culture and gaming, also welcomed the addition to the Ontario skyline. He said the city was “thrilled” to have been selected by Hard Rock for the project.

“This new entertainment and hospitality destination will draw visitors from near and far to Ottawa, create and sustain hundreds of local jobs, and provide millions of dollars for local infrastructure and community programs,” he said.
