This is the first game to employ Bally’s unique new Alpha Pro Curve cabinet, which merges the video and reel-spinning genres with a curved video screen. The screen simulates spinning reels with remarkable accuracy, but serves as a video screen for primary game animation and video bonus events.
In the primary game, stacked wild symbols can occur, which cover an entire reel with wild symbols. Randomly when this occurs, a “Wild Bonus” is added—another reel becomes wild.
In the main Wheel Bonus, the reels disappear and a wheel appears, spinning to free games (a “Code Red”), bonus credits, or one of three progressive jackpots displayed on the game’s top box—the “Yellow Level” resetting at $50, the “Orange Level” resetting at $150, or the top “Red Level,” resetting at $1,000. (These levels are for the most common version of the game, the penny version. All other denominations are available, with top jackpots resetting at the equivalent of 100,000 credits.)
A separate free-game bonus can occur on the top screen, with features like wild symbols or entire wild reels being held for the remainder of the free-spin round. Also, Code Red symbols can change to wilds during free-spin rounds.
The bonus events are all very frequent. The Wild Bonus, which changes random reels to stacked wilds, occurs every 32 spins on average for an average award of nine times the total bet, according to the manufacturer. The Wheel Bonus occurs every 77 spins with an average payoff of 20 times the bet; and the Free Games Top Screen event occurs every 317 spins with an average bonus of 51 times the total bet.
The Curve cabinet will receive much more play, according to Bally officials, who say they anticipate the cabinet playing a major role in server-based floors, to permit reel-spinning formats to run promotional games and enterprise-wide events through the Bally iVIEW Display Manager.
