VGT Moving to Reno

Tennessee Class II supplier Video Game Technology, in the first move of a bid to move into Class III markets, is relocating its game development division to Reno, Nevada, the home of leading slot manufacturer International Game Technology.

The move is part of an effort by the company to expand its business beyond Oklahoma, where it accounts for a third of the market for machines in the state’s Indian casinos.

“We’re looking to expand interest for the product line and also expand beyond our core offerings to other markets,” said Ryan Cuddy, vice president of game design at Video Gaming Technologies, in an interview with the Reno Gazette-Journal. “Obviously, Nevada is a massive market. We wanted to be in an area with a talent pool that knows gambling games in particular, because they are a different ball of wax than social mobile games. There’s a lot more back-end security and regulatory things that go into them than your super lightweight mobile game.”
