Sun International

South African gambling, hospitality and entertainment group Sun International has named Mark Sergeant as chief operating officer for land-based gaming.

Sergeant will officially join the company and begin his new role on February 1, Sun said in a short statement. He will report directly to Sun CEO Ulrik Bengtsson.

Sergeant has worked within the gaming, leisure and hospitality sectors for more than 25 years. This included a spell as group managing director of Genting Casinos UK.

He also spent five years with Gala Coral Group, where his roles included managing director for Gala Casinos.

Sun Welcomes ‘Deep Commercial Expertise’

“With a proven track record of managing large-scale, complex operations, Mark brings deep commercial expertise in driving sustainable growth, strengthening profitability and delivering multi-channel gaming experiences at scale,” Sun said.

“Beyond operational excellence, Mark is known for his people-first leadership style. He has built high-performing teams, developed future leaders and championed responsible gaming, ensuring the highest standards of integrity, compliance and customer care.”

The appointment came after Sun also recently named Nomzamo Radebe as its new COO for hospitality and sales.

A chartered accountant, Radebe will join from SA Corporate Real Estate, where she served as COO. She will begin her new role on February 2.
