Sun International Appoints New Marketing Operations Chief at Flamingo
Sun International has announced the appointment of Kim Cader as marketing operations manager at its Flamingo Casino in the Northern Cape of South Africa.
Cader joined Sun in September 2015, first working as events and entertainment coordinator for the land-based casino operator.
For the past four-and-a-half years, Cader has served as surveillance monitoring officer. She will now take on the new role at Flamingo Casino after more than 10 years with Sun.
Prior to joining Sun, Cader was regional sales administrator for Visual Fusion. She also had a role as marketing communications assistant at RealLife Concepts.
Sun Considering Opportunities in iGaming
The appointment comes after Sun recently published its financial results for the first half of 2025.
Revenue, referred to by Sun as income, for the six months to 30 June amounted to ZAR6.19 billion ($353 million). This beat the ZAR6 billion reported by the group in H1 last year by 3%.
Sunbet, the group’s online operation, reported the most growth, with revenue rising 70% year-on-year. In contrast, some land-based segments only posted single-figure increases.
Urban casino segment revenue fell 1% amid increasing pressure on the land-based sector. Resorts and hotels revenue edged up 4% and Sun Slots sales increased by 2%.
While iGaming was the standout segment, Sun CEO Ulrik Bengtsson said the group intends to build out its offering with the aim of becoming the online market leader in South Africa.
“We remain open to selective acquisitions in online gaming to enhance scale, geographic diversification and access to technology,” he said.
