Study Finds Half of Social Game Players Spend Money

Research by global research firm Newzoo has found that nearly half of US social casino players spend money on the games.

The study focused on 17 casino franchises in the United States and Western Europe. Newzoo found that 46 percent of players spent real money in the past six months, up about 10 percent from a study last years.

Male players between 21 to 35 years old were the most likely to spend. Males made up 59 percent of the market, with the 21-35 age-group constituting 55 percent of the paying social casino audience.

The study found that social casino gamers play an average of 5.6 titles in the genre, with most of them spending 2-5 hours per week on their favorite game.
