Rob Goldstein, President & CEO, Las Vegas Sands

Welcome to the Gaming Legacy Podcast. Our guest is Rob Goldstein, the chairman and CEO of Las Vegas Sands. For more than 30 years, Rob Goldstein has been a central figure for Las Vegas Sands.

He was part of the opening team, along with Bill Weidner and Brad Stone, recruited by Sheldon Adelson for the Venetian in Las Vegas. The Venetian fundamentally changed Las Vegas from simply a gambling town to a city that welcomed meetings, conventions, and traditional tourism. Adelson then set his sights on Macau in what would be considered a long shot. He won one of the three available licenses. The Sands Macau was built in 14 months and returned its total investment in the first year. But Adelson’s visionary moment was the transformation of the Cotai region, a swampy wasteland, into what is today the Strip of Macau with more than a dozen integrated resorts. Goldstein then engineered the sale of the shopping mall at the Venetian in Las Vegas to the tune of $800 million, fueling the company’s next target, Singapore. Once again, LVS was victorious and built Marina Bay Sands one of the most iconic buildings in all of Asia. When Adelson passed away in 2021, Goldstein took over as chairman and CEO. Last month, the company announced that he would be stepping down in March of 2026. He reviewed his fascinating career with GGB Editor at Large Roger Gros at the Sands Campus in Las Vegas in November.
