Puerto Rico’s Wyndham Grand Rio Mar to Unveil $60 Million Revamp

Wyndham Grand Rio Mar Rainforest Beach & Golf Resort in Puerto Rico has announced it will unveil its reimagined resort on December 17 following a $60 million makeover.

The project included three enhanced pools, 400 redesigned guestrooms and suites, and new dining locations. This is in addition to a new-look lobby, inspired by the rainforest and local culture.

Also within the transformation was a 1950s-inspired casino and sports-betting lounge. This features a range of table games and is anchored by new cabaret venue, The Vault.

Other on-site facilities at the resort include two 18-hole championship golf courses, racquet center and spa and wellness facility.

‘New Era’ for Wyndham Grand Rio Mar

The resort is owned and operated by speciality hospitality investment firm, Liongrove. It spans an area of 607 acres, adjacent to the El Yunque National Rainforest and the Mameyes River.

Liongrove Founder and CEO Andro Nodarse-León welcomed the transformation project. He said it marks the start of a “new era” for the resort.

“The transformation of Wyndham Grand Rio Mar brings together the natural beauty of the rainforest and coastline with world-class design, vibrant culinary experiences, and the warmth of true Puerto Rican hospitality,” Nodarse-León said.

“This reimagination of the resort is more than a renovation. It’s a celebration of the island’s culture and a promise to deliver unforgettable memories for every guest, from around the world and here at home.

“We are proud to mark the start of a new era for Rio Mar, and for luxury travel in Puerto Rico.”
