Over Half of Frequent Visitors to Kangwon Land in 2026 are Seniors
Total number of visits by senior patrons was up 36.6% in the first nine months of the year
More than half of Kangwon Land Casino’s frequent visitors this year were aged 60 and above, according to data submitted to South Korean lawmaker Cha Gyu-geun.
The figures point to a sharp concentration of repeat play among older customers according to local reporting.
Older Players Dominate Repeat Traffic
From January 1 to September 15, the casino recorded 349,289 visitors, of whom 87,533, or 25.1%, were aged 60 or above when each individual was counted once.
But among patrons who visited on 30 days or more, that age group accounted for 50.1%, or 6,304 of 12,586 people. Among those who came on 60 days or more, the share was 48.1%.
Risk Profile is Shifting
The repeat-visit rate was also far higher in the senior cohort. Of all visitors aged 60 and above, 7.2% came at least 30 times, compared with 2.4% among those under 60.
The total number of visits by older patrons rose to 972,440 in the first nine months of this year from 711,659 in 2022, up 36.6%, while their share of all visits climbed to 41.5% by September 15.
Earlier this year, staff at Kangwon Land Inc.joined a joint law-enforcement sweep targeting four suspected illegal gambling venues near its resort in Jeongseon County.
Kangwon Land interim chief executive Nam Han-gyu said the company’s cooperative framework with regulators was delivering results and that the operator would continue to monitor suspected unlawful gaming.
