Moving Day
The Morula Sun Casino and Hotel in Pretoria, South Africa will be relocated to Menlyn Maine, but with a slew of conditions laid out by the Gauteng Gambling Board. The board approved Sun International’s application after months of public opinion. A four-day hearing was held in April on the issue.
The board requires Sun International to fund the transfer of Morula employees to Menlyn Maine and offer them employment with their present benefits.
A long list of additional conditions includes safeguards against children accessing the casino, subsidies for the disadvantaged, and proper staff training.
Other conditions have the casino opening with 2,000 slots, 60 tables and parking for nearly 3,000 vehicles. Shops, restaurants and bars will be eventually added to the 3 billion rand complex, which could take three years to build.
