Merkur Acquires White Hat Studios
Germany’s Merkur Group has acquired prolific game provider White Hat Studios. The deal, for an undisclosed amount, only involves White Hat’s slots business and not its platform and white-label operations.
Merkur will look to boost the capabilities of White Hat’s games as well as its omnichannel offering.
The deal is another step in Merkur’s entry into the U.S. casino market. Last year, the German company acquired Las Vegas-based slot supplier Gaming Arts.
White Hat Studios is licensed in each of the seven U.S. states where internet gaming is regulated. Its content includes the 7s Fire Blitz game series and the Jackpot Royale progressive network, as well as the House of Brands slot collection.
The acquisition of White Hat Studios follows Merkur’s deal for Victoria Gate Casino in Leeds U.K. As part of the transition from its previous owners, a subsidiary of VGC Developments, the venue closed its doors temporarily on July 6 and reopened on Monday, July 13, under the Merkur brand.
