Meridianbet Completes Acquisition of Malta-Focused Fairbet
The Meridianbet subsidiary of Golden Matrix Group has completed the acquisition of Malta-facing retail gaming operator Fairbet.
Meridianbet will take 100% ownership of Fairbet operations across Malta and Gozo, the second-largest island of the archipelago. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
The deal brings an additional nine retail locations under the Meridianbet brand, taking its total Malta network to 20 storefronts. Its Malta portfolio now includes over 60 sports betting terminals and more than 120 slot machines.
As part of the agreement, a previous technology partnership between the two companies will now transition into Meridianbet taking full operational control of Fairbet. This includes immediate integration under the Meridianbet brand.
Strengthened Position for Meridianbet in Malta
Zoran Milosevic, CEO of Meridianbet, said the deal improves the company’s position in a market where “regulatory barriers create inherent scarcity value.”
“The transaction will enable us to expand our operations and retail infrastructure in Malta, with our technology serving the majority of licensed retail gaming in the country,” he said.
“The deal also demonstrates our strategic M&A approach — targeting acquisitions in high-barrier markets where limited licensing to create structural competitive advantages.”
Malta has served as an operational hub for Meridianbet since 2008.
