Ireland OKs 27 Remote Gaming Licenses
Variable tax rates
A list of 27 remote gaming operators approved for Ireland was published September 1 by the country’s Tax and Customs Office.
Among the operators on the list were Ireland-based companies Boylesports, Paddy Power and Matchbook as well as UK operators Ladbrokes, Gala Coral, Bet365, Betfred and William Hill. International sports betting operators include bet-at-home, 188BET, Full Tilt and PokerStars.
The new regulations, which became official on August 1, mandate that remote casino, gaming and bingo companies in Ireland pay a 1 percent tax on GGR. Sports betting operations will pay a 15 percent net revenue rate, reported the World Casino Directory.
The government has also set higher fines for illegal betting, up to €150,000, or €300,000 for repeat offenses.
The government hopes to reap €25 million per year from licensing fees and taxes, reported the WCD.
