Intralot Set to Land Maryland Lottery Contract

Intralot has secured approval for a lottery central monitoring and control system contract from the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Commission.

The deal will see Intralot manufacture counter terminals and self-service vending machines for selling lottery tickets. In total, Maryland Lottery has approximately 4,300 retail points of sale across the state.

The agreement also covers the development of software that runs the system’s sales and accounting functions. In addition, Intralot will provide certain related services to operate the Maryland Lottery.

Intralot won the new contract via its Intralot Inc. U.S. subsidiary following a competitive bidding process. The deal will run for an initial 10 years, with five possible one-year extensions.

Intralot to Support Local Maryland Communities

In its successful proposal to the state, Intralot committed to working with nine local business enterprises (MBEs) in Maryland. These MBE partners will work with Intralot to service the contract.

Intralot’s financial proposal corresponds to a total estimated contract term price of more than $260 million.

“Historically, vendors have used fewer MBE partners,” Intralot said. “However, we believe our new approach will create far greater opportunities for local communities.”

Intralot did, however, note that the contract awarding is subject to final approval. It said the Gaming Control Commission’s approval is an intermediary step in the award process for approving any future contract.
