Industry Veteran Kornstein to Exit Caesars Board
Caesars Entertainment has announced that Don Kornstein is to retire as vice chairman and step down from the group’s board with effect from December 31.
Kornstein has been on the Caesars board since July 2020 but his affiliation with the business stretches back to 2014. Initially, he was on the board of Caesars Acquisition Company prior to its merger with Caesars Entertainment Corporation (CEC).
He was a CEC director from October 2017 until its merger with the parent company in July 2020. From here, he joined the company’s board and also chaired Caesars Entertainment UK before its sale in July 2021.
Prior to his time with Caesars, Kornstein was a director Gala Coral Group and chairman of both Affinity Gaming and Bally Total Fitness Corporation. In addition, he served on the boards of Circuit City Stores, Cash Systems, Shuffle Master and Varsity Brands.
Kornstein Makes ‘Tremendous’ Impact at Caesars
Gary Carano, executive chairman of Caesars, paid tribute to the outgoing Kornstein. He said he made many “important” contributions during his time with the business.
CEO Tom Reeg has similar praise, saying Kornstein had a “tremendous impact” at Caesars. He said: “This is highlighted by his leadership and wise counsel relating to company and board matters. On behalf of the entire executive management team, we thank Don for his many valuable contributions and wish him well.”
Kornstein added: “After 12 years of active participation on the various Caesars entity boards, oversight of several strategic initiatives and the current focus on operations, I’ve decided the timing is right for this personal decision.
“As an instrumental participant in the conception and completion of the merger between Caesars and Eldorado, I’ve enjoyed and will always appreciate the collaboration with Tom, the board and executive management in furtherance of the combined company’s strategic goals.”
