Genting Edges Closer to Completing Westcliff Casino Restoration

Casino Westcliff

Genting Casinos UK said that it remains on track to complete the £9.8 million ($13.1 million) restoration of Westcliff Casino in Southend, U.K. by March 2026, with the new-look hospitality part of the venue to reopen in fewer than 100 days.

Restoration work began in January 2025 after the discovery of reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RAAC) in the venue’s ceiling. Concerns have been raised over the safety of RAAC, with many U.K. buildings having undergone restoration to rectify issues.

Work at Westcliff Casino recently entered its final phase, with all structural works complete. The final stage is focused on transforming the property’s look and feel with a new interior and exterior and improved hospitality offering.

Additions will include a new bar and an upgraded lounge area, while the in-house kitchen will reopen alongside the newly refurbished leisure half of the casino.

‘Once-in-a-Generation’ Investment for Genting Casino Westcliff

Stuart Green, general manager at Genting Casino Westcliff, said the project’s finished result will be “worth the wait.”

“This is a once-in-a-generation investment in our venue and in the future of Westcliff’s entertainment scene,” Green said. “It will be Westcliff as people know it but elevated in every way.”

The venue remained partly open throughout the project, with full the reopening set for March 20.

“As we enter the home stretch, we will continue to work hard to keep disruption to a minimum to ensure guests can continue enjoying the casino throughout the works before our grand relaunch,” Green said.
