Cuningham

Using a collaborative and culturally grounded approach, Cuningham designs gaming, hospitality and entertainment environments that create lasting value for Native American communities and support economic resilience.

Cuningham is an integrated design firm that empowers communities through innovative architecture, interior design and planning services. It is trusted by sovereign nations throughout the country as well as gaming and entertainment industry leaders such as MGM Resorts and Universal Studios. Cuningham’s seven U.S. locations operate under a highly collaborative, multi-disciplinary structure, allowing the firm’s professionals to push the boundaries of design and create a more resilient, sustainable future.

Cuningham’s cross-market approach leverages expertise across gaming and hospitality, entertainment, healthcare, education, residential and commercial spaces to help tribal clients diversify offerings, attract the next generation of customers and maintain long-term self-sufficiency.

The firm boasts a portfolio of creative, complex designs that are tied together through engaging storytelling and a commitment to designing meaningful places that respectfully honor and preserve culture while creating opportunities for communities to prosper.

Cuningham’s current work includes a hotel and event center expansion at Wildhorse Resort & Casino in Pendleton, Oregon. Working with the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation, Cuningham is reimagining and redesigning substantial campus elements to align with the tribes’ evolving vision for the future.

The firm is also collaborating with the Ione Band of Miwok Indians on a new casino project that opened in February. Located in Plymouth, California, Acorn Ridge Casino is the band’s first foray into gaming and is designed to provide a solid foundation for long-term growth.

Other recent notable projects include the renovated Dive Inn at Harrah’s Southern California Resort for the Rincon Band of Luiseño Indians; a new hotel for the Spokane Tribe in Washington; and multiple projects with Mille Lacs Corporate Ventures and the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe in Minnesota.
