Brightstar Selected for Seven-Year Lotto Saxony Deal
Brightstar Lottery has won a seven-year contract to upgrade the retail central system for Sächsische Lotto-GmbH (Lotto Saxony) in Germany, extending a working relationship that dates back three decades.
The London-based lottery technology supplier will install its Aurora™ central system and cloud-based software to handle transaction processing, game management and back-office operations across the state. The contract was awarded through a competitive public procurement process.
Aurora, part of Brightstar’s OMNIA™ platform, is designed to integrate retail and digital lottery operations. Lotto Saxony will also adopt Aurora’s “Anywhere” module, which links external applications securely to the retail system, and “Performance Wizard,” an analytics tool to track and improve performance.
Lotto Saxony Chief Executive Frank Schwarz said the upgrade would deliver “many benefits” for the lottery’s operations, citing Brightstar’s long track record of reliability. “We look forward to upgrading our central system to Brightstar’s sophisticated platform,” he said.
Brightstar COO International Marco Tasso called the deal “an exciting chapter” in the partnership, adding that the new system will help Lotto Saxony run more efficiently.
The supplier serves nearly 90 lottery customers worldwide, including 26 of the 46 U.S. state lottery jurisdictions and seven of the world’s 10 largest lotteries.
The Lotto Saxony win is the latest in a series of European contracts for Brightstar, which is looking to expand its footprint in the region while defending its market share in the U.S.
