Another Year, Another Record
The National Indian Gaming Commission announced July 31 that the U.S. tribal gaming industry generated $43.9 billion in gross gaming revenue in fiscal year 2024, a new record and a $2 billion year-over-year increase. Coming out of the Covid pandemic in 2020, the sector has now posted four consecutive record years.

All eight of the geographic regions tracked by the NIGC posted YoY increases in FY24, although the Tulsa region was essentially flat (+0.1 percent). The two largest increases came from the Oklahoma City and Washington, D.C. regions, which posted gains of 12.7 percent and 11.2 percent, respectively. The OKC region encompasses western Oklahoma and Texas, while the D.C. region is essentially the entire East Coast and Southeast.
The Sacramento region, which includes California and northern Nevada, generated GGR of $12.1 billion, the highest of any region as per usual. Only one other region (D.C.) eclipsed the $10 billion mark.
In its reporting, the commission audited financial statements from a total of 532 gaming operations from 243 federally recognized tribes across 29 states. The figures include revenue from both Class II and Class III operations.
