The Playboy Club Cancun opened in Mexico at the start of December. The entertainment venue includes a small casino and sports betting lounge.
The property, created by Archon Design, measures 12,000 square feet in all. Influences from the original Playboy Club in Chicago are combined with those of tropical Mexico. Works from Playboy’s multimillion-dollar art collection compete with a specially commissioned illustration of the Cancun Playboy Bunny by famed pinup artist Don Lewis.
Playboy Club Cancun is owned and operated under license by Entretenimiento de Mexico S.A. de C.V., a leading Mexican operator based in Monterrey. The company operates and licenses over 18 gaming venues throughout the country under the Palmas group, and hosts over 2.5 million players a year.
The new property integrates gaming with contemporary nightlife and will showcase an international mix of DJs and musical entertainment. Playboy Club Cancun also features a restaurant with a tapas menu offering treats from around the world.
Playboy Club Cancun features Playboy Bunnies, who work as hostesses, cocktail servers and dealers. From more than a thousand applicants from all over the world, 25 women were selected for the positions.
“With the opening of this striking new venue, Cancun residents and international visitors alike will now be able to experience the energy and excitement that the Playboy brand generates,” said Scott Flanders, CEO of Playboy Enterprises, Inc. Added Playboy founder and Chief Creative Officer Hugh Hefner, “I am pleased to bring the Playboy Club to Mexico for the first time and to combine the sexy sophistication of the Playboy brand with the international allure of Cancun. With the opening of Playboy Club Cancun and the arrival of the Playboy Bunnies, nightlife there will never be the same!”
Playboy Club Cancun joins Playboy Club Las Vegas at the Palms Casino Resort and Playboy Club Macao. Other properties are in development in Miami and London.
