The Association of Gaming Equipment Manufacturers announced the appointment of slot marketing veteran Marcus Prater as its new executive director.

Prater was senior vice president of marketing for slot-maker Bally Technologies when he left that company in December after nine years at the head of Bally’s marketing efforts. He was marketing director at Sigma Game before joining Bally.

Prater will succeed AGEM’s longtime Executive Director Jack Bulavsky, who is departing for undisclosed reasons.

“AGEM is very pleased to have Marcus Prater join our organization and take over as executive director,” said Brooke Dunn, president of AGEM and senior vice president of Shuffle Master, Inc. “Marcus brings a long history of success in the gaming industry to AGEM, and his marketing experience and knowledge of the issues relevant for suppliers will help take the organization to the next level.”

“I have been an active member of AGEM since the organization’s inception in 2000, and plan to take that experience and combine it with a new outlook to drive AGEM forward,” Prater said. “With the world’s leading suppliers as the foundation for the group, AGEM can build on what it has accomplished while making an even greater impact in the years to come. The supplier segment of our industry is a multibillion-dollar global group of innovative companies that makes up the AGEM membership list.”

AGEM was formed as an international trade association representing manufacturers of gaming devices, systems and components for the gaming industry. The association works to further the interests of gaming equipment manufacturers throughout the world through political action, trade show partnerships, information dissemination and good corporate citizenship.

The current AGEM membership roster is a who’s who of the supplier segment of the global gaming industry: AC Coin & Slot, Aristocrat Technologies, Atronic, Bally Technologies, Cadillac Jack, Cyberview Technology, Elite Casino Products, Elixir Gaming Technologies, FutureLogic, GameTech International, Gaming Partners International, Gary Platt Manufacturing, GTECH, IDX, International Game Technology, IPS, James Industries, JCM American, Konami Gaming, KSK, Las Vegas Gaming Inc., Mikohn Signs and Graphics, MEI, Multimedia Games, Progressive Gaming International, Rocket Gaming Systems, Shuffle Master, 3M Touch Systems, TransAct Technologies, Wells-Gardner Electronics and WMS Gaming.
