Zynga CEO Pincus Steps Down

Zynga Chairman Mark Pincus is again turning over CEO duties to the company, this time to board member Frank Gibeau.

Pincus becomes executive chairman and will focus on game development, the company said in a press statement.

Gibeau was with game maker Electronic Arts Inc. before stepping down last May from his role leading strategy and product development for that company’s mobile unit. Pincus then recruited him to the Zynga board, where he has been mentoring product teams, leading planning meetings and delivering talks to game developers and marketers, the company said.

Pincus ran Zynga from its founding in 2007 until July 2013, when he was replaced by former Microsoft Corp. executive Don Mattrick. Pincus took back the CEO title in April of last year.
