Melco Crown has added another show to its City of Dreams casino property on the Cotai Strip in Macau. The complex, which includes four hotels, a shopping mall and a huge casino, is aimed at the mass market and CEO Lawrence Ho says the show will only expand that appeal.
“We are trying to put broader entertainment into this venue,” Ho said. “We are not just appealing to the gamblers. We are saying, families, come along, people who enjoy shows, come along.”
A $250 million show, the House of Dancing Waters is produced by former Cirque du Soliel founder Franco Dragone. The production is set in a custom-built 2,000-seat theatre at City of Dreams. The water-based extravaganza is designed to be a must-see attraction in Macau and is promoted by travel and room packages with the property’s hotels.
Ho says the current marketing efforts for the House of Dancing Waters and the City of Dreams is focused on China. But he says that will change.
“We want to build up the momentum of the show in this region first, in greater China, Hong Kong, and then expanding into Asia,” said Ho.
