Thomas McCartney to Head Viejas Casino

Three-decade gaming veteran Thomas McCartney has been appointed president and general manager of Viejas Casino and Resort in San Diego County.

Chairman Robert Welch of Viejas Band of the Kumeyaay Indians, which owns the casino, made the announcement last month. Welch praised McCartney as “a dynamic force within the gaming industry for years, and he has produced successful results throughout his career. We are confident that his leadership and experience will allow us to continue to improve our world-class customer service, and to maximize the performance of our latest economic expansion.”

McCartney has been involved with the development of the New York-New York Hotel and Casino, Luxor Las Vegas, Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino and the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, where he was chief operating officer for the past three years.
