The latest sequel to WMS Gaming’s monster hit game based on the MGM classic The Wizard of Oz places the movie theme in the popular Big Event community-gaming series. Banks of four games front an overhead LCD screen, with all players entering the bonus event at once.

The base game is a three-reel, nine-line stepper using the Transmissive Reels technology, which places animation on a transparent overlay. Players earn multipliers for the bonus round through normal game play. Every time one to three scattered “Wizard of Oz” symbols land on the game screen, the bonus-round multiplier is boosted by 3X.

When the bonus game is triggered by the bank’s controller, every player goes into the bonus at the multiplier they have earned. During the Great and Powerful Oz bonus, all eligible players are awarded seven free spins at the earned multiplier. Each player chooses one of the film’s main characters—Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Cowardly Lion or the Tin Man. During each free spin, the game awards one of four spin enhancements, such as wild symbols, wild reels or multipliers, to one or all of the Wizard of Oz characters.

Additionally, as in the original “Oz” game, Glinda the Good Witch appears randomly, in this case to award a free spin enhanced with wild symbols, wild reels or a multiplier.

The slot is available in both wide-area progressive and stand-alone versions. In Nevada, GLI jurisdictions, New Jersey and Mississippi, the top jackpot resets at $500,000. The stand-alone version carries a top award of 25,000
