Simplified Seating

Gasser Chair Company, a leading manufacturer of seating solutions for international gaming, hospitality and entertainment venues, has introduced the gaming industry’s latest seating innovation, the patented Halo Base.

Featuring a stamped steel base encased in a special coating, the Halo Base adds improved functionality to the popular disc base design used in many casinos. Because of its unique design and powder coating process, it significantly reduces the force required to move a gaming stool on carpeted flooring.

Therefore, a heavy stool that is typically awkward and difficult for a player to move can now be moved with ease. And, as an added benefit for the casino, the Halo Base design reduces abrasive wear and tear on carpeted floors that a traditional disc base creates.

Most people will instinctively grab a gaming stool at the top of the back rest to move it. But, due to the physical geometry of a stool, it will tend to tip over before moving. The Halo Base coordinates the tipping motion with the forces applied to move a stool by allowing the stool to tip slightly while sliding, without tipping over. This is accomplished via the curved edge being turned upward, away from the floor, so that the edge of the base does not catch on the carpet, thereby reducing the probability of tipping over.

In an attempt to solve the difficult-to-move and tipping problems common for disc base designs, Gasser experimented with a variety of designs and assemblies, testing the force required to move a disc base design as well as the limitations for tipping. Researchers ultimately discovered that a specifically curved-edge shape, combined with a special powder coating, was the best solution, especially for taller and heavier gaming stools.

The Halo Base has been extensively tested and successfully installed in several casinos, including Ameristar Kansas City and Ameristar St. Charles in Missouri; Gun Lake Casino in Gun Lake, Michigan; Orleans Casino, Gold Coast Casino and Suncoast Casino in Las Vegas; Sam’s Town Shreveport in Shreveport, Louisiana; Delta Down in Vinton, Louisiana; Sky City in Auckland, New Zealand; and Treasure Island Casino in Red Wind, Minnesota.

Orders in process include the Horseshoe Casino in Cleveland, Ohio, Coeur d’Alene Casino in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho and Castle Hills RSL Club in Sydney, Australia.
