Developer Larry Siegel, chairman of the Juno Property Group, says his planned Grand Bazaar Shops near Bally’s casino in Las Vegas was inspired by the “world’s great markets”—including, of course, the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul.
“We’re going to create almost 60,000 square feet of energy that will draw in the 22 million or so visitors who walk by that space annually,” Siegel told the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
The $50 million project, in the planning stages since 2010, began construction in December. It will cover about two acres and is expected to open in the fall of 2014.
“This will be a tremendous attraction to bring people into the property,” said Bally’s President David Hoenemeyer. “Since I arrived seven years ago, I’ve been perplexed on what to do with that space. We’re very excited about this attraction.”
