Sands Names Butz as Bethlehem Contractor

Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem announced that it has picked one of the main contractors used in building its original resort in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, Alvin H. Butz Company of nearby Allentown, as the construction contractor for the next phase of its master-plan construction, a 50,000-square-foot convention center and event center.

Butz will build the core and shell of the facility, as well as the roof and exterior surfaces, and will also build the public restrooms and handle the mechanical and electrical systems.

“We have been very pleased with our previous working relationship with the Butz team,” said Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem President Robert DeSalvio in a news release. “Butz has completed all of our past projects on time and within our budget. We look forward to continuing that track record with the event center.”

Butz served as construction manager for the casino and parking garage, and most recently for the restarted retail center scheduled to open this fall.

Another local company, Serfass Construction Company of South Whitehall Township, will serve as construction manager for the convention center. The facility is targeted for completion next spring.
