Riches of the Heart

This is the latest game in Konami’s popular five-reel stepper series, Advantage 5. It is a 30-line slot with an “Xtra Reward” feature, a bonus event activated by a 15-credit ante bet in addition to covering the paylines (a 45-credit minimum bet).

There is a free spin bonus—three, four or five bonus symbols trigger 10, 15 or 30 free games, respectively. The free-spin bonus can be re-triggered within the feature.

The Xtra Reward feature is a bonus event that can lead to one of four progressive jackpot levels. Called “Rolling For Riches,” the progressive feature, available either in the base game or any free spin, is triggered by five red hearts or five wild symbols on an active payline. (Chances of triggering the feature are better on a free spin, when all white heart symbols are transformed into red hearts.)

The progressive game is played out on the top LCD screen, which is suspended within a cantilevered top box in the Advantage 5 format. The player is prompted to select the left side or the right side to predict where a ball will land. The display then shows a pachinko-style drop of four balls, each representing one of the progressive jackpots. Balls falling on the side picked by the player return that progressive; losers pay 25 credits.

The player can win up to all four progressives in the bonus round: a “Mini” resetting at $3; a “Major” resetting at $20; a “Mega” resetting at $100; and the top “Maxi” prize, which resets at $1,000. According to the company, the side chosen by the player has no effect on the chances of winning.
