Manufacturer: Gaming Partners International

Gaming Partners International, a worldwide supplier of casino currency, table games and related equipment under the names of Paulson, Bourgogne et Grasset and Bud Jones, is moving to the next stage of radio-frequency identification technology with the introduction of its Casino Cage 3D Validation RFID Antenna.

GPI, which has been pioneering RFID technology embedded into casino chips and plaques for more than 10 years, recently underscored its commitment to maintain a leading role in this field with an agreement to acquire certain RFID rights, licenses and systems from slot manufacturer International Game Technology.
The Casino Cage 3D Validation RFID Antenna has been engineered to be installed at the cage and concealed within the cashier’s desk. The antenna reads chips and plaques in any position, either horizontally or vertically oriented. In addition, it validates and displays not only the quantity of chips but also the total value amount.

The new antenna reader benefits the casino by providing automatic authentication and reading of chips at the cage or cashier. It identifies counterfeit or invalid chips, tracks cage transactions and helps eliminate human error from chip flow and cash flow control.

This cage reader also interfaces with GPI’s Video Interface Unit, which displays and records actual chip activity within a frame on a closed-circuit TV security system. This can enhance payout controls by security and management, prevent payment of foreign chips and allow for better tracking in case of payment disputes.

As RFID technology proves to be valued not only for its security benefits but also for its ability to speed up many processes, both at the table and in the cage, the company reports more casinos are integrating this technology into their operations. In a recent example, the Galaxy Macau, which will open in 2011, placed an order in October for casino currency and RFID technology from GPI, representing the company’s largest single order for a casino opening.
