Harrah’s Resort in Atlantic City has named John D. Smith, a former retail executive, as its new senior vice president and general manager. Smith has no prior casino experience, but has worked as a senior executive for the department store chain Target Corp., as well senior vice president and general manager for Collective Brands Inc.
“I look forward to playing an active role in positioning the Caesars Entertainment organization to continue to succeed, and I am excited to contribute to the growth of our Atlantic City properties in every possible way,” Smith said in a statement.
Smith will oversee the three new restaurants the casino recently unveiled—Luke Palladino’s, Dos Caminos and Bill’s Bar & Burger. He will also oversee operations at the Pool After Dark, Harrah’s popular domed pool and nightclub, one of the biggest draws in the city.
Smith replaces Jay Snowden, who resigned as Harrah’s general manager in April to take a senior position with Penn National Gaming Inc.
