Potawatomi Bingo Casino in Milwaukee Wisconsin finally felt the effects of the recession in June with a net win million less than last year, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.
This year’s revenue report came as a shock to the tribal casino after last year’s success following a $240 million expansion project.
“There may have been a perception out there that the casino industry was recession-proof,” Ryan Amundson, spokesman for the casino, told the Journal-Sentinel. “That isn’t true. We’re feeling it like everybody else.”
The rest of the gaming world has been suffering to bounce back from the economic crash for quite a while, and it was only a matter of time before the Potawatomi Bingo Casino felt the pressure as well.
The decrease in revenue, which may largely be attributed to joblessness, could strike hard with Forest County Potawatomi tribal members, who each get a dividend of around $70,000 every year.
