New York Governor Andrew Cuomo says three new casinos should be built in upstate New York to help boost economic development.
According to the Syracuse Post-Standard, the casino proposal is one of four initiatives in Cuomo’s proposed Market NY, a program aimed at economic development that was presented in the governor’s third State of the State address last month.
The proposed plan calls for three casinos in the region. Ninety percent of the state’s take would go to education, and 10 percent would go to property tax relief.
Cuomo said a casino in New York City should not be considered until the impact of these casinos can be gauged.
