Moller Tapped as Future SkyCity Chairman

Chris Moller is slated to take over as chairman of the board of SkyCity Entertainment Group when Rod McGeoch vacates the position upon retirement in November 2012.

The future replacement of McGeoch by Moller, announced at the beginning of August, assumes that both men are re-elected at the November annual meeting, as is expected. The board was unanimous in its decision to select Moller as future chairman.

Moller was appointed to the SkyCity board in December 2008. He is the chairman of Meridian Energy, NZ Transport Agency and New Zealand Cricket. He is also a director of Westpac New Zealand, Rugby New Zealand 2011 Limited and the International Cricket Council. Moller’s term as a SkyCity director is also up for election at this year’s annual meeting.

McGeoch signaled his retirement plans and the date at the 2010 annual meeting. He was appointed a SkyCity director in September 2002 and chairman in April 2004.

McGeoch said, “The next 15 months are all about our growth phase—the opportunities we have in Auckland and Adelaide in particular. This is a very important time for the board and it is better to deal with succession now so as to allow the board to give its full focus to this growth phase, knowing my successor is well in place.”
