Missouri Gaming Commission Announces New Chairman

Missouri Governor Jay Nixon recently named Barrett Hatches (l.) as the new chairman of the Missouri Gaming Commission, replacing James Mathewson, who stepped down at the end of June. Hatches had been appointed to a three-year term on the commission in April 2010.

Hatches currently serves as president for business consultancy at Hatches Consulting in Kansas City. Previously, he was chief operating officer for Swope Community Enterprises, comprised of the nonprofit Swope Health Services health system and the community development corporation Swope Community Builders.

Tropicana CEO Rodio to Head Casino Association

Atlantic City’s most influential trade group, the Casino Association of New Jersey, has appointed a new president.

Tony Rodio, president and chief executive officer of Tropicana Casino and Resort, will assume the duties of outgoing president Bob Griffin, head of Trump Entertainment Resorts, whose two-year term expires this month. Rodio, a 30-year veteran of the gaming industry, will take the reins of the CANJ at a time when Atlantic City is trying to emerge from a five-year revenue slump due to a slow economy and competition in neighboring states.

“As a lifelong New Jerseyan, I feel confident the best is yet to come in Atlantic City,” Rodio said in a statement. “I look forward to being at the forefront of the continued transformation of Atlantic City into a world-class destination resort.”
